Campaign ads on TV

August 4, 2011

Recently, I saw a posting on my all-time favorite site, Jezebel, about the campaign ads running on television for the Republican party. Personally, I’ve always been a little offended at both parties’ political ads, and the jabs that both parties’ will make for political gain.

But, this ad is just plain ridiculous. We all know the economy is headed for another downturn instead of the upturn that usually accompanies a recession, but  can we really say China is going to take us over by the end of Obama’s term…really? And on what planet is it ethical to use cute little children for political gain? That’s called fear mongering propaganda, and I’m pretty sure someone named Hitler used the same tactic to convince us the Jews were bad.

Here’s another one:

While I completely understand that it’s necessary for American’s to know what’s going on with the government and the debt ceiling, this isn’t discussing that at all. It’s just speculating unreasonable fear. Do I have the solution? No, but I also don’t think its appropriate to scare the people who are watching television, who probably don’t know what’s going on in politics anyway, causing them to make yet another uneducated and uninformed vote. Ethics people, ethics.
